Our wonderful ESC volunteers Estela Carpintero and Sara Hernando from Spain have successfully completed their one-month volunteering journey with Sahipsiz Hayvanları Koruma ve Yaşatma Derneği in Sinop!

Sent by Asociación Building Bridges (Spain) through the European Solidarity Corps programme, Estela and Sara brought their knowledge, dedication, and compassion to our organisation while gaining valuable professional and personal experience.

As veterinary students, they cared for cats and dogs in our Village and Patient’s Room, supported the treatment of sick animals, accompanied animals to veterinary clinics, and regularly assisted with neutering, deworming, and other veterinary procedures at the municipal shelter. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and willingness to help made our daily work more efficient while bringing positive energy to everyone around them.

During their volunteering, they strengthened their practical veterinary skills, learned to adapt to different working environments and available resources, improved their communication in an international environment, and experienced the power of solidarity, teamwork, and intercultural learning.

But perhaps the most heart-warming part of their journey came at the very end… ❤️

Estela and Sara adopted two of our rescued cats, giving them a safe and loving forever home in Spain. Their volunteering may have come to an end, but their kindness and commitment to animal welfare will continue through the lives they have changed.
