Our ESC volunteer Deniz Degre from Germany has completed her one-month volunteering activity with Sahipsiz Hayvanları Koruma ve Yaşatma Derneği and has now said goodbye to Sinop.

Deniz joined us through our sending organisation, Kreisjugendwerk der AWO Karlsruhe-Stadt, and during her volunteering period, she supported the daily care and treatment of sick cats in our Patient Room, helped care for the cats and dogs at our house in Bektaşağa Village, and assisted our team with internal and external parasite treatments for the cats.

She also joined the activities at the Gerze Municipality Stray Animal Care Centre, where she had the opportunity to observe spay and neuter surgeries for female and male dogs and gain practical experience in this field.

For Deniz, this month was not only about working with animals. It was also an opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds, experience teamwork, and see first-hand the efforts made in Türkiye to improve the lives of stray animals. She especially recognised the importance of spaying and neutering in reducing uncontrolled animal populations and preventing further animal suffering.
