Our veterinarian volunteer Martina Pesa, who came from Croatia with our European Solidarity Corps project, completed her one-year voluntary service and returned to her home. Throughout her activities, Martina assisted veterinarians in their treatments and surgeries at Sinop and Gerze Shelters and Sarıkum Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, and treated sick animals in need of intensive care at her home. She participated in neutering surgeries of cats and dogs in shelters. She worked hard to improve the general conditions of Sinop Shelter especially. She helped heal many animals. She detected their illnesses early and informed us. She ensured that tests were carried out in private clinics and the correct treatment was given. She took many cats and dogs to 19 Mayıs University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Academy Surgery Clinic in Samsun and ensured their diagnosis and treatment with the advanced devices there. She taught our younger veterinary volunteers and helped them develop in their fields. She treated and cared for many sick cats in her own home. She performed routine examinations of the disabled cats in our mini shelter under our care and diagnosed their diseases. Early diagnosis enabled them to hold on to life again. She went out on the streets with us and treated many sick cats and dogs. Many homeless cats and dogs of Sinop came to life again with Martina. We will never forget Martina, who had outstanding skills in both internal medicine and surgery. Since she was originally from Bosnia, she was very close to our culture and immediately adapted to Sinop. She made many friends and won everyone’s love with her sincere and friendly characteristics. She took care and adopted a kitten that arrived at our association at two weeks old. She took her to her hometown when she left. We can’t say enough about Martina. We would like to thank Martina for helping us take care of homeless animals and the European Solidarity Program for giving us the opportunity to meet Martina. We will miss Martina very much.
