Our Finnish veterinary volunteer, Pinja Süner, has completed her one-month volunteer service in our European Solidarity Corps project and returned home. During her volunteering period, Pinja primarily cared for sick and injured cats and looked after the cats and dogs under our care. She looked after the animals under our care in the village, treated sick animals in the patient room, and assisted the veterinarian at the shelter with surgeries. She brought a new perspective to treatment methods in the field. She also completed an internship at Samsun Academy Animal Hospital. Pinja and her colleagues engaged in many discussions about the differences between treatments and methods they learned in their own veterinary faculties. She learned a great deal about how animals are treated in Türkiye and shared her experiences and the methods she learned in Finland with her colleagues. She learned a lot about veterinary medicine, shelters, and volunteer work in Türkiye. She also gained a lot of information about the cultures of other volunteers. This activity greatly contributed to Pinja’s cultural and professional development. She learned more Turkish and gained more confidence in using it. We sincerely thank Pinja for all her dedicated efforts for our beloved pets.
