Our ESC volunteer, Zubaidah Al-Rubaye, has successfully completed her 10-month volunteering journey in Sinop, Türkiye under the European Solidarity Corps programme!

Throughout her volunteering experience, Zubaidah dedicated her time and energy to improving the lives of stray animals. She actively supported the daily care of nearly 70 rescued cats at a village shelter, assisted with feeding activities for stray animals, and gained hands-on experience in animal welfare, treatment, and veterinary care.

During her project, she also regularly volunteered at the Gerze Shelter, where she learned about veterinary procedures, surgical preparation, and post-operative care by assisting professionals in their daily work. In addition, she spent one week at Samsun Akademi Animal Hospital, observing specialized treatments and surgical cases that further strengthened her interest in veterinary medicine.

   

Beyond her direct work with animals, Zubaidah helped raise awareness about responsible animal care and participated in a Christmas charity workshop, where handmade decorations were sold to raise funds for food and medicine for stray animals.

This volunteering experience not only benefited the animals she cared for but also contributed greatly to her personal and professional development. Through patience, responsibility, teamwork, and intercultural cooperation, she gained valuable skills, built meaningful connections, and discovered an even stronger passion for animal welfare and veterinary medicine.

Being a voice for animals, touching their lives, and contributing to their well-being made this experience truly unforgettable for Zubaidah. Throughout this journey, she gained valuable knowledge, skills, and insights that will inspire and guide her future work and personal development.
